Honda employs a comprehensive approach to safety, providing a high level of occupant and pedestrian protection.
Many of the Civic's most essential safety features come standard. For example, the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure enhances the vehicle's ability to deal with crash energy in impacts with vehicles of differing size. High-tensile steel beams provide increased side-impact protection. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) helps maintain steering control during hard stops. The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system takes into account how the car is dynamically loaded, and apportions braking force appropriately. Daytime Running Lights (DRL) enhance visibility. And every Civic comes equipped with front, front side and side curtain airbags. The 2007 Civic has already received a wide variety of prestigious awards; but after placing so much emphasis on safety, Honda was especially pleased to receive a 5-star rating in frontal-impact testing for the Civic.*
